56 Cresta – Cairns Seamount

We've fished gigantic seas in search of gigantic marlin, and rolled about in huge swells night after night chasing the elusive swordfish.

We've pushed and punished our 56 Cresta over the years, because we know she can handle it!

So, a month ago the opportunity presented to cruise out to the Seamount well over 90 nautical miles off Cairns, our skipper wasted no time navigating into 'marine paradise'!

Not only were we treated to some great fighting Yellow fin Tuna up to 60kg, we also landed some whopping Spanish Mackerel and Wahoo.

The highlight was undoubtedly tagging a couple of Black Marlin well over the 1000lb using circle hooks. The fish swam off in pristine condition, clearly inflicting more damage on the angler than themselves.

We drifted in the evenings and happily swam with the whale sharks as they inquisitively circled our hull. What a magic experience!

In the early morning we were treated to a procession of well over 100 False Killer Whales as they powered through the ocean in acrobatic formation.

The Cresta is such a liveable, comfortable and safe vessel, so stable in rolling seas and so easy to kick back in after an active day on the water.

We cruised back to the inner reefs after 3 great days at The Seamount. It doesn’t get much better than this!
